German Alphabet Symbols - Alt Codes

Below is a complete list of all the special characters and accents in the German language. Use the following codes when you need to type German characters such as the eszett and umlauts. Simply hold down the 'alt' button and type in the code.

How to type special German letters by using their Alt Codes?

  • Make sure you switch on the NumLock,
  • press and hold down the Alt key,
  • type the Alt Code value of the special German letter, for example, for eszett, type 0223 on the numeric pad,
  • release the Alt key and you got ß.

*You must type, preceding 0.

** Above mentioned procedure is not aplicable for MacOS.
